Asara District (Persian: بخش آسارا) is in Karaj County, Alborz province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Asara.[3]

History

In 2009, the city of Asara was formed by the merger of three villages.[4] In 2010, Karaj County was separated from Tehran province in the establishment of Alborz province.[5]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the district's population (as a part of Tehran province) was 18,856, in 5,407 households.[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 17,150 people in 5,977 households.[2]
