Vasili Alexandrovitx Arkhipov (errusieraz: Василий Александрович Архипов, vɐˈsʲilʲɪj ɐlʲɪkˈsandrəvʲɪtɕ arˈxʲipɔːf ahoskatua; 1926ko urtarrilaren 30a - 1998ko abuztuaren 19a) sobietar armadako ofizial bat izan zen, sobietar eraso nuklear bat (eta, ustez, erabateko gerra nuklear bat) saihesteko meritua eman zitzaiona Kubako misilen krisian. Horrelako eraso batek, beharbada, erantzun termonuklear handia eragingo zuen mundu osoan.

Flotillaren komandante bezala eta B-59 diesel propultsioko urpekariaren agindupean, Arkhipovek uko egin zion kapitainak Estatu Batuetako Itsas Armadaren aurka torpedo nuklearrak erabiltzea baimentzeari, erabaki honek itsasontziko goi mailako hiru ofizialen adostasuna eskatzen zuelarik.

2002an, Thomas Blantonek, garai hartan Estatu Batuetako Segurtasun Nazionaleko Artxiboko zuzendaria zenak, Arkhipovek "mundua salbatu" zuela esan zuen.

Lehen urteak

Arkhipov nekazari familia batean jaio zen Staraya Kupavna hirian, Moskutik gertu. Ozeano Bareko Goi Mailako Itsas Eskolan hezia izan zen, eta 1945eko abuztuan Sobietar eta Japoniar Gerran parte hartu zuen, dragamina batean zerbitzatuz. Kaspioko Goi Mailako Itsas Eskolara joan zen eta 1947an graduatu zen.
