Gugusse and the Automaton (bahasa Prancis: Gugusse et l'Automate),[1] juga dikenal sebagai The Clown and the Automaton,[2][3] adalah sebuah film bisu pendek Prancis tahun 1897 garapan Georges Méliès.[1] Film tersebut menandai penampilan sinematik perdana yang diketahui dari sebuah robot (sebuah kata yang belum akan menggantikan "automaton" sampai kata tersebut dipakai dalam sandiwara Karel Čapek R.U.R.),[4] and was one of the earliest films to feature themes of "scientific experimentation, creation and transformation."[2]
Gugusse dirilis oleh Star Film Company milik Méliès dan diberi nomor 111 dalam katalog-katalognya.[1] Saat ini, film tersebut diyakini telah hilang.[5]
