Britanski romanopisac James Gordon Farrell (25.1. 1935 — 11.8. 1979), poznatiji kao J.G. Farrell, stekao je slavu zahvaljujući svojoj historijskoj prozi od koje je najpoznatija Imperijalna trilogija (Troubles, The Siege of Krishnapur i The Singapore Grip), tri knjige koje se bave ljudskim i političkim posljedicama britanske kolonijalne vladavine. The Siege of Krishnapur je godine 1973. dobila Nagradu Booker.
